Lanyrd is a moderately complex web application. The core site uses Django, MySQL and Amazon Web Services, but we also make use of Solr, Redis, Varnish, nginx, Celery and Fabric. This talk will discuss the challenges involved in building large web applications using a variety of powerful open source components.
About Simon Willison
Simon Willison is a co-founder of Lanyrd, the Y Combinator funded social conference directory. He has previously worked on Yahoo!'s Technology Development Team and as a software architect for The Guardian, as well as at the Lawrence Journal World, a local newspaper in Kansas, where he was a co-creator of the Django web development framework.
